About

Hi, I'm Billy, actor and art director living aside everything that happens in the world. Since that reality tends to be not very nice (aka wars, corruption, unemployment, financial crisis etc.) I like to fantasize another through cinema. My pals, also actors in my team, share my thing; unfortunately for them...

Movie production however lately looks like to get more and more dull - with always some bright exceptions - we decided to return to reality. This back 'n' forth from reality to movies and from movies to reality made me really dizzy and I ended up at the shrink, who advised me to start up writing about it because it'd be the only way to get over my paranoia!

So this is what I do. Calling myself a moviegagger, I pick up those movie flaws that take me back to an appallling reality that should be different or changed, as well as those that screw our world and basic knowledge of it with no apparent reason or purpose. Can't have for instance a wanna-be James Bond kicking ass and violating half nature's laws without him actually being James Bond. Seriously, you gotta be Bond or build inasmuch a name through acting, direction and astonishing effects, yes?

Therefore this blog was created upon a doctor's order and pleeeaaase don't disrupt the treatment! Otherwise I could relapse and turn again into a malevolent incomprehensible preacher of buzz, harming the environment and my fellows' mental health!

Ok, forget the doctor's order part. Just kidding... but I'm serious that writing is good treatment. For everything. Cinematography is art, and art is opinion, idea, policy, trend, a cultural result. You'll notice that Movie Gag is a bit strict in commenting films; we pan movies and ridicule any aspect of them we don't like. This however does not degrade them as works of art; instead it prompts artists, such as directors, actors, screenwriters etc. to improve themselves (given they would ever get to read Movie Gag!).

I also have to let all of you know that Movie Gag participates in the Amazon Services Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. It's not just the law that requires a blogger to inform you of affiliate links, it's also what is right and honest towards readers. Most of the images (such as movie posters and covers) are affiliate links that enrich my posts and may provide some income (fortunately these guys have usually good prices).

As I said, the film reviews here are all but praising, but they don't intend to discourage you from watching the films. All deserve attention, no matter the after effect.

Our "expertise" is mostly of theatre, but still films involve what we call the "performing arts", though different, escorted by state of the art technology (effects). And this is an endeavour to bring comedy and wit into the reviewing process.

My fellow moviegaggers, cheers for reading Movie Gag. Please leave your gag, ehm.., comment and help in splashing a modern film-making theory!
